Why You Feel Stuck Even When You’re Trying (And How to Break Through)

Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything you can…

And yet, nothing is really changing?

You’re:

  • Thinking about it

  • Working on yourself

  • Trying to do things differently

But somehow, you still feel:

  • Stuck

  • Frustrated

  • Like you’re not making real progress

If you’ve ever thought:
“Why am I still here when I’m trying so hard?”

You’re not alone.

And more importantly…

You’re not doing anything wrong.

What It Really Means to Feel “Stuck”

Feeling stuck doesn’t mean you’re not trying.

It usually means:

Your efforts are happening at a different level than the pattern itself

You’re working at the level of:

  • Thoughts

  • Behavior

  • Effort

But the pattern is being driven by:

  • Your nervous system

  • Subconscious beliefs

  • Identity

So no matter how much you try…

You keep running into the same experience.

Why You Feel Stuck (Even When You’re Trying)

There are a few key reasons this happens.

1. Your Nervous System Is Pulling You Back

When your system is used to a certain state—like stress, pressure, or overwhelm—it tries to return there.

Even if you want something different.

So you might:

  • Start to feel better

  • Try something new

  • Then suddenly feel pulled back into the old pattern

Not because you failed…

But because your system is following what’s familiar.

2. A Limiting Belief Is Still Running the Pattern

Underneath feeling stuck is often a belief like:

  • “I’m not enough”

  • “I can’t do this”

  • “Nothing really changes for me”

You might consciously want something different…

But if that belief is still active, it shapes your:

  • Decisions

  • Reactions

  • Expectations

And keeps the pattern going.

3. You’re Trying to Change the Outcome Instead of the State

Most people focus on:

  • Doing more

  • Thinking differently

  • Forcing change

But your state—how you feel in your body—drives your experience.

So if your state doesn’t change:

  • Your thoughts follow the same patterns

  • Your actions feel forced

  • Your results stay similar

4. You’re Using More Effort Instead of the Right Approach

This is a big one.

You might think:

  • “I just need to try harder”

  • “I need more discipline”

  • “I need to push through”

But effort alone doesn’t change patterns.

It often just reinforces them.

5. Your Identity Hasn’t Shifted Yet

Even if you take new actions…

If you still see yourself as:

  • Someone who struggles

  • Someone who gets overwhelmed

  • Someone who can’t figure it out

Your system will keep pulling you back to that version of you.

Why This Feels So Discouraging

You’re not sitting still.

You’re trying.

So when nothing changes, it can feel like:

  • Something is wrong with you

  • You’re missing something

  • You’re stuck for good

But the truth is:

You’re not stuck—you’re just using tools that don’t match the level of the problem

What Actually Breaks the Pattern

To move out of stuckness, you need to shift three things:

1. Your State (First)

Calm your nervous system.

Use the Alignment Breath:

  • Two sharp inhales through your nose

  • One slow exhale through your mouth

Repeat 3–5 times.

This creates space for change.

2. The Belief Driving the Pattern

Ask:

  • What am I believing right now?

Bring the pattern into awareness.

3. Your Identity

Shift from:

  • “I’m stuck”

To:

  • “You can move forward from here”

  • “You are capable of change”

This is where real movement begins.

4. Take One Aligned Action

You don’t need to overhaul everything.

Just take one small step from the new state.

That’s how momentum builds.

What It Feels Like When You Break Through

When this starts to shift:

  • You feel more clarity

  • You stop overthinking every step

  • You take action more naturally

  • You feel like things are finally moving

Not because everything changed…

But because you did.

A More Direct Way to Get Unstuck

In my work, I help clients move out of stuck patterns by working at the root level.

Using a process called Peak State Alignment, you can:

  • Shift your state quickly

  • Identify and release limiting beliefs

  • Step into a more aligned version of yourself

Often in less than 10 minutes.

A Simple Way to Start

The next time you feel stuck:

Pause.

Take 3 rounds of the Alignment Breath.

Then ask:

  • What feels familiar about this?

Start there.

Ready to Move Forward?

If you’re tired of feeling stuck and ready for something different:

I offer a 30-minute breakthrough session where we:

  • Identify what’s keeping you stuck

  • Shift it in real time

  • Give you a tool you can continue using

No pressure. Just a real experience of what’s possible.

You’re not stuck because you’re not trying.

You’re stuck because the pattern hasn’t shifted yet.

And that can change.
